Sympathy Card using Bo Bunny stickers

Like most of you I am sure I dread making sympathy cards as it means someone is suffering. I tend not to stockpile them in my stash, it's almost a superstitious thing for me. A wee little peek into that brain of mine lolz. Of course there are times when you need to have one and in this case I needed to have one in a hurry. I found this sticker pack from Bo Bunny from the Jazmyne line as I have a hard time resisting anything that is purple, my fave colour. Pair it with green and I am done lol. I took a white sheet of Bazzil cardstock , placed the sticker and stamped a sentiment inside. This sentiment I grabbed from SGD from The Stamp Barn did my heart in..."When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure". Just perfect and it totally made my heart twinge.

Hope you like this suuuper fast card and hug the ones you love today. xoxo Andi

All things Unity Inspiration 07

Sara has given us a cool photo to use as inspiration for our All Things Unity challenge. I used a quote from one of the previous kit of the month's paired up with the DeLovely line by Cosmo Cricket. Such fun bright colours to play with! I also used some of my treasured ribbon I got from SGD along with my paper. I used a Martha punch along the bottom, added some flat backed pearls and voila! Oh, and I TOTALLY borrowed the sketch from Papercrafts magazine's Sketch a day book. Pretty much exactly heh heh. I am soo layout challenged. I hope there are others out there like me!

Click here to go to the ATU blog and see what the rest of the DT has up their sleeve for inspiration today. Ciao! Andi

Texture time at Kraftin' Kimmie stamps

This week's challenge over at Kraftin' Kimmie stamps is to add texture to your card. Lots of different ways you can do this one such as adding fabric flowers and flower soft like I did or even distressing your paper. I used one of my fave Cindy and Mindy stamps called 'Daddy's little girl' as it just melts my heart. To help get some more inspiration hop on over to our challenge blog by clicking here and see how the other Krafty Girls added texture to their card.

Have a fabulous weekend! xoxo Andi

Happy Canada Day from my High Hopes card...

Okay, I am soooo in love with this Canada themed stamp. Seriously......seriously!! It was one of my fun stamps that I received from Amy from the cool Paper Romance online store. You can find this image by clicking here under the new Dustin Pike High Hope images. I really like his drawing style! I coloured him a differently than the sample supplied by Dustin on Amy's website and used pics I found online as inspiration. I then used strips of red leafed paper from the fall Basic Grey release.

I have always meant to send cards for Canada to show more of my patriotism. I also have a cool cake I want to make (or have hubby make lol) from the Kraft Canada website that uses strawberries to make the shape of our flag.

Hope you have a great weekend and great weather where ever you are! Andi

Better late than never- let's get our Whimsy on!

*please click on pic for a closer look*

I am soooooo late today with my post. Lot's of reasons why but let's just say life gets in the way sometimes lolz. BUT I am here now and ready to share my card today again using our sponsor Sweet Pea stamps. Before I go any further I would like to thank our May sponsor's Sweet Pea stamps and to steal Jacquie's great term the awesomated Randi for organizing this for all of us. Our guest inspiration kiddies today are Kim's girls Kaeli and Emilie and their dare was to make our cards sparkle. Oh...sweet girls after my own heart- I am such a glitter girl! I coloured my mermaid with copics and then used different colours of glitter on her mermaid tail. I hope my card has enough bling girls- if it doesn't it's because the rest of the glitter is all over me, my dog and my 2 cats from the clouds of glitter from my craft studio. Yep you read that right....my studio...formerly known as my craft room. A couple of fun ladies I was colouring with last night decided we are 'artiste's' (said with a hoity toity tone) and one lady correctly pointed out that as an artiste my work space can't be called just my craft room but rather my craft studio. I agree and I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

Okay...now lean in closer....I want to let you in on a little secret- we may have a big announcement to share with you next Wed and let me just say I am soooo jealous about what part of this announcement means for you. I am soo terrible at keeping good secrets. My hubby and I have to buy each other's gifts the week before Christmas or we run the risk of caving and exchanging them early lolz.

To help get your mojo running I invite you to hop on over to the challenge blog to get started on this week's challenge details or to see my fellow daredevil's delish creations. I have also included the links below. Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

May card kit from SGD using Zoe gazing at butterfly

Just wanted to pop in and share my card that I made using the May card kit from SGD. I used Zoe gazing at butterfly from Stampavie and I just adore how much she reminds me of a Holly Hobby image. Did anyone else used to love Holly Hobby? I even had a Holly Hobby oven as a child- no easybake oven for me! Sadly my parents informed me that it was very hard to get the cake mixes for this oven and I never got them again after making up all my mini cakes and forcing my parents to eat them. My mother has a weak stomache and I can still remember the look on her face. I also remember getting my Cute Grandma (that's what we called her) to eat one and she got a weird look on her face and asked if hers had coconut in it. I don't think it did hee hee. Pretty sure I know why those cake mixes were so hard to find- yah sure Mom and Dad! Mind you my kids have a few toys that regretfully you can only buy replacement batteries for them in Japan. So sad **cough cough**. hee hee.

We just had a long weekend here in Ontario and it was perfect weather on Sunday and Monday. Saturday wasn't as nice but I ended up with a touch of belly flu so it was a good day to stay inside and watch telly. I was able to spend some time directing my hubby on how to do the gardening on Sunday. I am SURE he appreciated my feedback =).

Well, I am off to my craft room. Enjoy your day!

you are soooo charming...

This week's challenge over at the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge blog is to add a charm to your card. Phew...this one is easy peasy for me. I have hoarded some charms for awhile now, grabbing them where ever I can. For this card with the lovely Queen I chose a shoe charm as I totally had Cinderella on the mind. So here is Cinderella as the Queen with her lucky shoe. I used my Copics to colour here and some Basic Grey papers from the Kioshi line. I used the following Copic colours- E000, E00, R20, RV91, RV93, RV95, G40, G82 and R0000 and R000 to shade around the image. I also used the sketch over at Friday Sketchers for inspiration. It's a long weekend here in Canada and I am looking forward to having the family home with me. And hopefully some good ole fashioned stampin' time. If you get some time to stamp why don't you head to the challenge blog to get some more inspiration- trust me the DT samples are stunning- and play along with us. Cheers!

2 sketches to choose from today for your Whimsical Wednesday

Today at the Diedrich Dare blog we are spending our Whimsical Wednesday with 2 more guest designers. Heather's 2 cutie patooties Willow and Piper (love those names!) have given us 2 different sketches to work from. Click here to go to the challenge blog and check them out. I had wanted to make a card from each of the challenges but time ran short on me so I combined elements from both. I used Willow's sketch and used one of my Sweet Pea images that had butterflies in it for Piper. You girl's did an AMAZING job with the sketches and I have filed them to keep using! I am really getting more comfortable colouring my Sweet Pea images well enough to do them justice. I think next week I am going to branch out and try the gorgeous hair like Randi does.

To help get your mojo running I invite you to hop on over to the challenge blog to get started on this week's challenge details or to see my fellow daredevil's delish creations. I have also included the links below. Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

Nashville Tennessee Flood 2010

I have been watching with a heavy heart the effects of the flooding in Nashville and area. I have some sweet friends who live there and seeing the devastation has really left me wanting to do something to help. As a crafter I was so happy to hear that a stamp company had already found a way to help out by making this digi stamp set where 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Nashville Red Cross Flood Relief. My friend Jessica's card that I am sharing today uses this adorable image from the "A Helping Hand" set, now available at the Wildflower Patch store. "A Helping Hand" is a collaboration between Jen Shults of Wildflower Patch Stamps and Betty Roberts of Simply Betty. If you are able to help out either by spreading the word or purchasing the stamp set (which you can find by clicking here) or any of the other many ways you can find to help it is all appreciated!

ATU- It's a sketch challenge

It's been 2 weeks since our last challenge so it's time to get the ole mojo stirred up again. We have a fantastic sketch to work from this week and here is the card I came up with. I used a sand coloured ink and stamped it on my new Basic Grey paper- it's their newest line and the name is escaping me right now lol! I adore sketch's as layouts on cards and scrapbook pages are the area I am weakest in. I truly feel blown away when I see an incredible card or page and the person who made it 'just came up with it'. I try to sit next to them and casually rub my arm against them once in awhile to see if their talent will rub off on me a bit. Ha ha, don't worry- I don't rub arms with random strangers tee hee. Or people I know either. I might have less friends if I did that.

Click here to  hop on over to the All Things Unity blog to see what the rest of the team has created with the sketch and also to be inspired as well. Raise your hand if you love a good sketch just like me..phew...see lots of raised hands. Glad to hear I'm not the only one =). Cheers, Andrea

Anything but a card challenge

This week's challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie stamps comes to us from across the pond from Krafty Girl Elaine. She has asked us to make 'anything but a card' and I immediately knew I wanted to do a bucket to help show off another one of my May Kraftin' Kimmie sneak peeks. I have one of those great clear buckets to alter and clearly (get it ha ha) the perfect paper to go in it. Jack's skimpy bathing suit matches it perfectly too. Jack is being released tomorrow along with the rest of the bathing beauties.

Time to grab your tea and click here to go to the challenge blog and see what the rest of the DT have cooked up for you as well as the challenge details. Thanks to sweet, talented and perfect card photographer Elaine for this fun challenge. Hope you get a chance to play along too!

Paper Romance play time

I have been having so much fun playing with my stamps from Paper Romance. I had mentioned previously how this stamp from Your Next Stamp reminds me of Rainbow Brite and how I made a card with that inspiration, here is that card. I used some of my paper from October Afternoon, some black grosgrain ribbon and also some paper ribbon from Basic Grey. She is sooo fun to colour I have to get some more Fhiona stamps and the mermaid ones too.

Here is another card I made with my stamps from Amy featuring Popcorn the Bear. I fell in love with this sweet fishing scene and I knew it would be perfect for a Father's Day Card or even a birthday card for a fisherman. I enjoyed colouring the image but I still need to practice my Popcorn the Bear colouring. Well...practice makes perfect so I guess I just need to spend lots more time with my copics hee hee. Yep, basically I think I will ground myself for at least a full day locked in my craft room- oh the torture! It will give me time to watch the Youtube video Suzanne Dean also on the Paper Romance DT did on how to colour Popcorn..I think I need to watch it a second..maybe a third time tee hee.

If you need me to ground you to your craft room as well, consider yourself told! Cheers, Andrea

We're gonna have a bright, bright sunshiney day!

Today Mae is in the house from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps to help us bring on the sun here in SW Ont and drive away the greyness and rain. Mae is also one of the May releases and I love her 'kicky' heels. Another scandalous short skirt on the beach though...tsk tsk. I used my copics to colour her (E000, E00, E11, BG72, BG75, R08 and I think Y19 and Y21). I also used some of my fun beachy paper that I picked up at Scrapfest. Kimmie actually grabbed the same paper (actually she found it first and I copied her hee hee). I then also used my new punch- love it!

Well here's hoping we all see some sun today and at least you can also get some by popping along to my other Krafty girl blogs and see their beachy creations. Cheers! Andrea

Sneak Peek time for Kraftin' Kimmie stamps!

Hey hot stuff...you lookin' at me? I love this new image from the May Kraftin' Kimmie release as she is posing so coyly but her hand over her mouth makes her look so innocent at the same time. Kinda like how I always pose hee hee. This bathing beauty is called Eleanor and she knows she has it goin' on at the beach. Cheeky minx is even wearing one of those new fangled bathing dresses with the shocking above knee length. I tell you it's scandalous!

Oh..and I bet you were also wondering where I got that flower that is so perfectly colour coordinated with the card. Yep probably also wondering where you can buy these little flower gems. Well..I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you can't buy them...CAUSE I MADE IT WITH MY OWN 2 HANDS!! Out of coffee filters. For real. I got the idea from watching a tutorial on someone's blog and adapted it slightly to make my own. Yep, I am feeling pretty much like McGyver. Ha ha. Okay I will stop going on about my flower but I am a proud mama hee hee.

Photobucket
So today grab yourself a cuppa tea and head over to my fellow Krafty Girlz bloggy's to see their sneak peeks and lovely creations. You can find them all over to the right in my sidebar. You may even notice a new face along the way...just sayin! I will also be back with a few more posts later today to let you know about a stamp set for a good cause and another Paper Romance card. Cheers...Andrea

Another sketchy treat from the Whimsical Wednesday blog..

Thank you so very much to everyone sweet words to my daughter last week for her great sketch! She was glowing from all the praise and she has been on a card making frenzy at times now lol! This week I am so excited to work with a sketch from Jacquie's daughter Kyah. Seriously...isn't it fantastic! I loved working with  your sketch Kyah and hope I did you proud. I would use one of your sketch's anytime sweetie! Oh and quite honestly I am SURE I will be using this one again =).

I used this month's sponsor's stamps again this week for the challenge as I finally received my happy mail from Sweet Pea stamps (I swear you would think I lived in Iceland with how long it take mail from the US to reach me yet I can drive across the border in just under an hour). I got 3!! Sweat Pea stamps to add to my collection. WOW, thanks so very much!! This is my first share with one of the images I received. I am loving colouring these fantasy images I just wish I could get their hair as incredible as they are in the pictures...or as well as fellow daredevil Randi- seriously have you seen her amazing work with these stamps! I may need to find out where Randi lives and go for a visit hee hee. Just to colour..you don't need to feed me Randi.

I invite you to hop on over to the challenge blog to get started on this week's challenge details or to see my fellow daredevil's delish creations and I have also included the links below. Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

Kraftin' Kimmie Weekly Challenge- who likes Ice Cream?

This week's krafty challenge is a colour challenge. And it's delish..!! Your colour challenge is to use pink, white and brown- the colours of neopolitan ice cream. Krafty Girl Vicki is bringing us this tasty challenge and if you want to play along you could win Josephine! I used Francesca as I always think of that colour combo when I see her with her cupcakes. I also used some of my new to me paper from DCWV paper Kimmie and I grabbed at Scrapfest. Using a sketch from Friday Sketchers for this week I created my card. I added some bling then Kimmie had me back away from the card slowly as I wanted to add about 25 more pieces of flair hee hee. I always overdo the embellies. Thankfully the bedazzler was never something I got into or my family would still be sparkling heh heh.

So hop on over to the challenge blog to see more Krafty Girl Kreations and for more challenge details so you can also play (and win!). Have a great weekend peeps!

Guess what! I am a Guest DT for Paper Romance!!!

I am so excited to share that I am a guest DT for Paper Romance! My friend Amy opened her online store a few months ago and carries some really sweet stamps such as Your Next Stamp, High Hopes, Popcorn the Bearn, Cute Companions and she just got in today Bildmalarna! She also carries embellishments and stamping supplies and much more. I wish Amy nothing but success in her still new business venture and I am so honoured to be part of her team this month.

I used Cupcake Cutie Fhiona for my first Paper Romance share. I had to have this set! It reminds me of Rainbow Brite. Not sure why..but she does. I have made another card with her as a Rainbow girl. I used some of my new October Afternoon paper that I can't get enough of and some prism cardstock. Amy also sent some of these fun jewels with my DT stamps and I wanted to include them on my card. This pic doesn't do them justice. I am having a heck of a time photographing my cards since my photo tent lights bit the dust and I don't have any good light in my house. If you have any good tips or links to photographing cards please send them my way.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you soooo much Amy for letting me be part of your team! xoxo Andrea

Whimsical Wednesday presents Mix it Up May!

Today is a very special day for us Diedrich Daredevils as we are adding to the sketch talent roster this month by getting a few more of the Daredevil's lil'daredevils to challenge us this month. Today's lil'daredevil comes from my household and is my youngest DD! Kaitlyn is our first guest in our Mix it Up May challenge and she made this sketch for you to try. She wants you to know the following details- the ribbon doesn't have to be polka dotted and can be anywhere on your card and your stamp doesn't have to be a 'people' stamp. She cracks me up lol. She also made a card with her sketch and she did it all on her own with no help from Mom. I think she did amazing!

I'm also thrilled to announce that SWEET PEA STAMPS is the May sponsor for the Diedrich Dare blog!!! All month long, the DT will be featuring creations with Sweet Pea Stamps fantasy image collection! That's a whole lot of Sweet Pea eye candy!! So be sure to check out the Daredevils' blogs this month.

Sweet Pea Stamps range anywhere from whimsical to artistic. They are made of hiqh quality, unmounted red rubber. They have an amazing collection of images from three talented fantasy artists: Ching-Chou Kuik, Elaine Cox, and Lisa Victoria. If you would like to see more samples, please check out the Sweet Pea Stamps blog.

THIS WEEK'S PRIZE:
$20 Gift Certificate to Sweet Pea Stamps!!!

I invite you to hop on over to the challenge blog to get started on this week's challenge details or to see my fellow daredevil's delish creations and I have also included the links below. Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

It's a sketchy Saturday for us Krafty girls!

Good day and Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!! To celebrate National Scrapbooking Day, Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps is having a super sale for the whole weekend!! Some of your favourite images and sentiment sets are on sale from 25-50% off, now until Sunday night at midnight EST!

Today at the Kraftin' Kimmie stamps challenge blog we are gettin' sketchy with it. The fabulous Jeanne created this sketch and it was so fun to work with. Mind you based on how awesome Jeanne's cards always are I should have known she would rock a sketch too. One thing I would like to mention about my fellow Krafty girl Jeanne...she is troooouble with a capital T! I am always trying to behave in our DT forum for KK stamps and Jeanne is always stirring things up tee hee. Honestly she is hysterical and I look forward to meeting her one day. I just know that whenever we meet that city will never be the same.
On this card I used one of the very first KK stamps released- Posy! I had some new October Afternoon 'Fly a Kite' paper and right away Posy let me know she would be perfect. And of course she was lol. For some fun come and play with us by clicking here to go to the challenge blog and see the details to win a KK stamp and also to see what else the DT has made with Jeanne's sketch. Cheers! Andrea
