Unity Thursday!!

Happy Thursday!!!

Angela wanted to celebrate CHA fun even though we aren't there this week so we have some fun sales and a Facebook party going on! It's is helping me personally with my disappointment at not being able to go this year hee hee!!!

I used one of Stephanie Ackerman's new releases from last week for my card today. They are still on sale at 40% so grab some while you can at this great price! I got the idea in my head to create a checklist with a pencil on the card as my kids had brought home one of those small pencils you get at Ikea. So I made the card and went on a wild hunt for the mini pencil- no luck. So I sat for about 10 mins sharpening this pencil crayon to fit the card size hee hee! Oh what crafters will do!

Next up on the hop is the ever fun and creative Jen! And don't forget to leave some love at each stop on the hop as 3 lucky winners will receive some Unity $$ for shopping fun!

Have a great day!

C4C195- July Sketch time!

This week's crazy challenge over at the Crazy 4 Challenges blog is a sketch! I got to design the sketch being the hostess for the month so I tried to think of something funky but not too wild. I hope you like what I came up with- you can see it here

A sketch is a great kick-off point when making cards. I tend to use a sketch and then tweak it to suit where I think my card is going. For example when I made the sketch I envisioned my sentiment right over my 3 circles. However I realized when I went to place it that I couldn't bear to cover up the birdcages on my middle circle. So I placed some skinny ribbon there instead and moved the sentiment down.

You should SEE the amazing job the crazies did this week with the sketch! Hop on over to the C4C challenge blog to get the full challenge details and to see some amazing inspiration. Another great week ladies!!

Cheers, Andrea

Unity Thursday- Let the Sun shine In!

Happy Thursday!

For today's hop I wanted to play with June's SMAK kit as it has been sitting on my workspace calling my name with all the amazing images! I have to admit when I first got the SMAK kits I put them to the side waiting for when I scrapbook or work on project life. I had it in my head that's what they were for and as a cardmaker I would just mostly focus on the KOTM. Wrong way of thinking Andrea! The images are AMAZING and work on cards just as well as other projects! The sunbeams and sentiment worked perfectly for my BIL's birthday card for today. He has a pool and spends the whole Summer outside so I automatically thought of him when I saw these. What I didn't know and IMPRESSED THE HECK OUT OF ME was that the sentiment fit perfectly over the sunbeams! It's like they thought of everything!

Here is June's SMAK kit:

Thursday also means sale time at Unity!

hee hee! Those banner ads crack me up!! Okay next up on the hop is the crazy fun and talented Jen! Don't forget to leave a comment on each blog for a chance to win!

C4C 193- Let's Get Wordy!

It's my turn to be the Hostess with the Mostest over at the Crazy 4 Challenges blog for the month of July! For our first challenge I am asking you to 'Get Wordy' and use a sentiment as the main focus of your card.

I stamped this sentiment from Inkadinkado onto acetate using Graphite fast drying pigment ink in Tuxedo black. It took me 3 tries to get one with little smearing. I set it aside for a day to dry as it was still wet to the touch a few hours later. I then layered the acetate over this paper from my stash and kept the card simple. I am pretty sure this is Stampin' Up designer paper from years ago. I tend to hoard things ;).

To see more 'wordy' cards hop on over to the C4C challenge blog for more inspiration from the DT and also from our new July guest designer!!

Cheers, Andrea
