More Whipper Snapper...A Dinner Journal

I am already back with more of my Whipper Snapper creations. I am telling you I went nuts with these new sets from Anna. It has been ages since I altered anything and I really saw this cute chickie and wanted to put him on a notebook of some sort. To help keep our food budget under control and to stop eating out because we don't know what to cook/nothing to cook we try to plan our weekly dinner schedule. We find we only buy what we need so saving $$ there plus the temptation to just grab something is significantly less. So hubby has endless scraps of paper with the week's meal plan on it that float around and I am never sure if I can throw it out- is it this week's or last week's? This book will not only keep it all in one place but we can also mark down how well it went over with the family. That way hubby knows when he scored a hit with us girls and if we would eat it again. Yep..you read that right- he does the cooking =).
I have been hoarding paper from Cosmo Cricket that just had the coolest retro vibe. I love this look! I found some Stampin Up patterned paper in Old Olive to cover the journal as it is a lightweight cardstock and easier to work with. I then used some of the Cosmo Cricket paper and some of the cut out tiles from that series (Early Bird). I coloured the chickie with my copics- if you would like to know the colours please let me know as they are still all over my desk so it's easy for me to get it lol!
Quick funny story. I have always loved the look that was big a few years back with tons of ribbons tied all over the place. It may not be used much now but I still love that look. So instead of using my ribbon on spools I thought I should use some of the ribbon scraps I have been saving since I started crafting. You wouldn't believe how many times I screamed across the craft table at one of my friends "You are NOT throwing out that ribbon piece are you??????". My friends would look at me questioning my sanity as I would snatch the small piece of ribbon from their fingers or fish it out of the trash. I would get hives and all sweaty while saying "Look at the size of this scrap- I can do something with it". But I never did. Never. So I have a massive container of ribbon bits. I pulled it out last night and it was amazing all the cool pieces I found. Stuff I didnt' even know I had or where I got it from. I even found some of my favourite retired In Colour ribbon from SU that I no longer owned. It was like Christmas in March. So much so that I was humming a Christmas carol lol. While I was busy at my table with my ribbon bits I realized someone else was humming the Christmas carol right along with me. My daughter's kitten. He had found the container on the floor and was rolling in it having a great ole time. As much as I hated taking away his March Christmas I plucked him out and had to put it away. Silly cat might swallow it- you can't trust him lol. At least he had a few minutes of pure bliss before I noticed lol!
Cheers...Andrea

You are too funny!

BTW, I'm probably worse 'cause I even save bits that are 1" long. Don't know what I'll ever need it for, but waste not want not. I know I need to learn to let go :).
